        • RL/RI.11-12.2 Determine two or more themes or central ideas of a text and analyze in detail their development over the course of the text, including how they interact and build on one another to produce a complex account/analysis; provide an objective summary.
        • Cut theme: only universal ideas
    • Writing Prompt
      • Options to connect characters, symbols, ideas that leads to theme.
        • Explain how one of the characters or symbols relates to and develops a universal idea. What is Shakespeare saying about the universal idea (the theme). 
      • What are 2 themes Shakespeare tried to convey with the play Hamlet? Write an essay in which you create at least 2 theme statements based on one of the four selected universal ideas found in Hamlet. Use textual evidence to support your theme statements.
      • What theme in Hamlet stands out to you most? Choose a character and analyze their actions and motivations throughout the play. Do they agree with Shakespeare's theme? How? Does their view change through the course of the play? How? Explain your answer and support it with textual evidence.
